Tulips

We could learn a lot from tulips. They are brave. They poke their little heads up in March when it is still kind of cold and there is still a good chance of snow. They are strong little guys though, and they can take it. They just know that it is time to come up, so they do. And they are prepared for whatever Mother Nature wants to throw at them. I just love seeing the tulips poking up in the Spring... it serves as a reminder that Winter really does end and that Spring really is on its way.

I saw some baby tulips today, and I realized how truly amazing they are. (At least the ones that grow here in Utah). They always get snowed on, and they always still bloom. It's like they know that if they wait too long to sprout, it will be too hot for them to bloom, so they have to come when there is still snow so that the end product can live to its full potential.

Nature is something that God controls, everything happens according to his plan, and look how amazing the tulip turns out! I mean, if I were a tulip, I'm not sure how willing I would be to come out of the ground when it is still cold and snowy. Just goes to show that everything is in God's hands, and He really does know what is best for us.

Phone Calls

When you get done with a conversation on the phone and hang up, do you ever think, "I should have just let it ring..." ?

Believe me, so have I. Like about 5 minutes ago. I got off the phone thinking, "Why didn't I just let it ring?" But I didn't let ring, so now I get to sing in sacrament meeting this Sunday. But maybe letting it ring wouldn't have helped me any... it just would have prolonged the inevitable.

Whoa

(Yesterday) was monumental, yet insignificant... all at once.

You see, I started filling out my mission papers. I didn't realize how little effort it took to get the ball rolling. You just have to tell the right people you want to go on a mission, and... bada-bing, bada-boom! All of a sudden you're creating a username and password, and you are at your leisure to fill them out. Monumental: I started my papers today. Insignificant: It was really just another day on the computer.

I'm not sure what amazes me more; how easy it was to get started, or the fact that I have, in fact started. Both are quite awe-inspiring; however, the fact that I have started filling out my papers happens to take my breath away just a titch more than how easy it was to get started.

Who would blame me? This is a slightly major decision in my life... and I tend to shy away from making decisions (especially big ones). So, seeing as I have appeared to make the decision, it would make sense that the "monumental" part of the day would make my heart flutter a little more than the insignificant part.

I kind of feel like I'm dreaming... I don't think the hugeness of what I have decided has hit me yet. And I am completely OK with that.

Side note: I am writing this way late, or way early... anywho since it says "Monday" on the published date, I thought I had better say "yesterday." When in fact, I still consider it Sunday... sort of.
