Luck?

I want to know how I have lucked out in life so much. Honestly, this is kind of awe-inspiring:

I have an amazing family; my parents are the most wonderful parents I could ask for, and my siblings... well, I'm sure they'll come around ;) (just kidding, I love them!)

I was born into a family who had the gospel in their home, and I know my life would be different if it had been otherwise.

I have 4 of the most amazing roommates. You are second only to my family. I hear horror stories about roommates, and that just wasn't my reality the last 2 years... It's been pretty good. I'm gonna miss you girlies... a lot, you'd better write me! *tear

I have some stellar friends. This encompasses everyone who is my friend. These people will never know how much they mean to me, and I'm not just saying that.

Leaders. Mostly in church, but I have had some pretty "upper class" leaders in my time. This includes every Young Women leader I ever had. I aspire to be like you.

I chose a major that is going to help me a lot in life. It's going to be relatively easy to get my degree, and I'm going to enjoy most of it. Who could ask for more?

I have a great job- I couldn't have paid someone to find me a better one.

I work closely with a high school student that doesn't act like one (those of you who know about my job, this will make sense...) Thanks Chelsea, you're so sweet and such a hard worker.

This past year of school, I have had the most faithful, caring home teachers... EVER. I'm talking like my whole life, I have never had home teachers as great as them. Thanks guys, you'll never know how much it meant to me.

And on that subject, my visiting teachees have been pretty wonderful too. They always made time for Nicole and I to come and visit them, and I always left feeling spiritually uplifted and like they did the teaching. Thanks girls! You made it easy.

Also, I would like to thank the institute, my ward, and my stake for feeding me this week... Really. It's great to not have to go grocery shopping.

There are so many things in my life that I have to be grateful for. I can't list them all (mostly, because I can't type as fast as my brain thinks of them... and I'm running out of adjectives). But I don't think I can call it luck. No, even this limited list is too long for it to be called luck. These are blessings. An overwhelming abundance of blessings. And I am happy to take the time to stop and express gratitude for them.

Gems

I get these emails from the church website; Young Single Adult Gems, and this is the thought that came today:

"At this time of life, it is most important that your thoughts and acts be clean and pure so that the Holy Ghost can guide you. Satan is determined at this critical time of your life to overpower you, not with an onslaught of serious temptation suddenly presented, but by carefully placed, alluring, but seemingly unimportant infractions of your long-established standards. He would use these temptations to skillfully lead you away from the path of righteousness. Satan knows that as long as you can be led by the Holy Spirit, you can resist him. He has no power over a righteous person. The Lord has made it possible for you to resist the devil's temptations. When obedient, you will be inspired to know what to do and have the capacity to do it."
-Richard G. Scott

I love the bluntness of this quote. Basically, if you aren't very careful about what you are thinking and doing, you are in danger. This makes me want to be a better person.

The time will come

Today, I was reading my patriarchal blessing in sacrament meeting, and one line popped out to me. "The time will come..." There's more, but even though the phrase was in a paragraph about one specific part of my life, I think it pertains to everything in my life. Sometimes, it's really hard to remember that. I get so impatient with life sometimes, and today was a good reminder that patience is a virtue.

26 days and counting...

There are only 2 weeks of school left, and then Finals week. That makes 3 weeks. 3 weeks until I don't have to think about psychological statistics, marriage and family relationships, child guidance, or family finance anymore. 3 weeks, and I'm free. 3 weeks, and I can relax...

Or cry. Yeah, I'll probably cry. Because in 3 weeks, I'm moving. Back home, with my parents and the chaotic zoo. Don't worry, I love my family. A lot. And I will probably be grateful for being home after a while (since I am going on a mission sometime in the fall, meaning I get to leave my family for 18 months- no visiting). But for right now, I don't feel ready to leave. There are people here that I don't want to leave. People I love. People that I will miss terribly. Brooke, Annie, Nicole... Yeah, you guys are amazing, and I don't want to leave. But there's no logic in staying...

How do you make it slow down? I will take the torture of psych stats if it means I can spend a few more days with my wonderful friends! *sigh, but the world doesn't work that way, does it? Nope. So I guess that means that in 26 days I will be packing up my stuff and leaving town.

Yep, I'm going to cry.

insert awesome-attention-getting title here

Do you ever want to post a blog, but have no idea what about? I do. Usually it's because I know I had a good idea earlier when I was nowhere near a computer, and I am trying to remember it. Rarely do I remember what the my totally awesome idea for a blog was. And, quite frankly, it sucks.

Anyway, I thought I would share that I want to blog, but I don't remember what I want to blog about. Have a nice day!
